• Death and taxes

Today I write from our local H&R Block, preparing to render unto Caesar that which is his. I hate doing taxes. Ours are so complicated, with John working as a freelancer, plus on disability, medical deductions, etc. We often owe, and must figure out how to scrape together the required amount. It is another dying–letting go of things you cannot change and accepting the pinching combination of our own choices and unwanted circumstances.

I don’t recommend waiting until after Easter to put your taxes together, but this year, it seems appropriate somehow. The “dying to” taxes feels true, but the hope of the Resurrection feels true in me as well. I’m thankful that this letting go can be accompanied by clinging to Christ.
